Seth Godin was looking for a little more traffic to his blog so what do you do…pick a fight with the SEO crowd! Seth writes:
“Hey. It’s not so hard. If you make great stuff, people will find you. If you are transparent and accurate and doing what’s good for the surfer, people will find you. If you regularly demonstrate knowledge of content that’s worth seeking out, people (being selfish) will come, and people (being generous) will tell other people. It turns out that it’s easier and faster to do that than to spend all your time on the shortcuts.”
You can read more on the cat fight over at Hit Tail blog. Naturally, Solomon Rothman felt compelled to answer the comments of Godin. I will say this, Godin is a little more diplomatic than when Tom Antion got called out by Knox and Antion responded that: “most seo people are also full of it.” It must be all the stress of tax time. I can’t help but remember when Godin put a post in his blog last year asking for SEO help to tweak his blog-It’s good to see that Seth is a quick learner!
I do love blogs because you can take a very ordinary person who has no coding prowess and make them look like a genius. Blogs are formatted so they already include tags, and if you customize your template a little the search engines will treat you even better. Don’t forget to put in the ultimate tag warrior and customize it for greater results.
